The indoor helm station is the centerpiece of navigation on board Moonwave. It features the steering wheel, two big Navigation screens and lots of control buttons. Additional screens and controls for sail trimming are placed on the upper section. In the right corner of the overhead section one of the screens is reserved for the Torqeedo Deep Blue Hybrid System. More info about our Electronics on board in the blog entry “Moonwave – Electronics Upgrades”
The helm station is just two steps away from the winches and sail handling in the fwd cockpit. But when it’s raining or cold outside, the helms[wo]man is nicely protected from the elements. Recently we have added new custom buttons for the additional hydraulic features – see blog entry “Moonwave – Hydraulic Version 2.o [Jan 2020]”
The helm-station has been designed by our favorite Designer Christophe and our Captain Sebastien with esthetics, ergonomics and access to electronics in mind. It was build a “master boatbuilder” and “carbon artist” in England. We love his sense of details. And the helm station is also full of hidden genius design features.
We have recently take some additional photos of our helm station and it would a shame not to share them…
